President – Paul Herrerias
A life-long recreational runner, Paul started as a young boy running away from a scary older brother. He learned early the value in being faster on his feet than other kids, and that competitive spirit stays with him today, five decades later. As he travels the cities of the world, Paul gets to know a new city by putting on his running shoes in the early mornings. Paul enjoys the full variety of runs, from trails to tracks, in heat or in cold, from 100 meters to marathons, and by himself or with hundreds of new Tamalpa friends. His favorite is running the trails of Marin, and he hopes to be a competitive trail runner for Tamalpa in his 70’s…(many years from now!).
Vice President – Carol Preisig
Carol has been a casual runner since her mid-twenties and continued that, as a self-described ‘Mom jogger’, through raising her daughter. Her running club adventures began when her daughter went off to college and she is a regular at the TCRSs, runs in the PAUSTF XC series and generally enjoys the trails in Marin and wherever she travels. She joined the Tamalpa Board in 2022 with a sense of appreciation for all that the Club offers and the great community that it fosters. She is a scientist by training and is the Head of Global Partnering for the cheminformatics company, Chemaxon LLC.
Secretary – Ali Kegley
As club Secretary, Ali has transitioned from Vice President to help lead Tamalpa into the future. She is a regular at TCRS races, Ross Commons Sunday runs and our PA USATF Cross Country teams. She is a very talented runner, often found leading the pack among her competitors. When not running the trails of China Camp or the Marin Water district, Ali teaches second grade at Venetia Valley Elementary School.
Communications – David Leipsic
Our former club president, David Leipsic is a very long-time Tamalpan, going back to the 1980’s when he ran his first TCRS races when home from college. He’s grown up with Tamalpa – and likes to think of himself as one of the younger “old-timers.” His consecutive Dipsea streak, interrupted only by the Pandemic (and still run on Dipsea Day) is going strong at 29. He discovered running in high school at Redwood and continued competitively at UCSB, and post-college through racing with Tamalpa. Now, I in his mid-50’s his love for running on Marin’s beautiful trails is even stronger than when he started. His favorite trails are Tucker, Yolanda, Northside, Matt Davis and Coastal (Tennessee Valley to Muir Beach). You can find him at Ross Commons most Sunday mornings about at the Tuesday night track workouts. His favorite races are Cool Canyon 50K, the Dipsea and Double D, and Roger Gordon’s Superbowl Race. When not running, he’s teaching special education at Miller Creek Middle School or coaching at San Rafael High Schoo. He lives in San Rafael with his wife, and has a son at Cal Poly.
Treasurer – Brian Caynan

Danielle Herrerias (membership)
Born in Montreal, Canada but Danielle now considers Novato her home. When not training for something, she is Director Human Resources at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Her running life started recreationally in high school and got more serious when a friend challenged her to run the Portland marathon at age 32. She has run multiple marathons (including 2 Bostons) and many halfs. Her Dipsea record consists of one double-Dipsea and just volunteering for the single Dipsea. My favorite place to run is on the beach in Kauai! and most exotice run was in Gardner, Montana (just north of Yellowstone) and my Favorite race is the Napa Valley Marathon (2004) when I set my PR (3:32)

Past President – Carolyn Garriott
Tamalpa runners is honored to be led by a very talented ultra-runner, Carolyn Garriot. Carolyn has been a long time member of our running community and previously served as a board member and vice president of the club. She brings a wealth of organizational and managerial talent to Tamalpa and is leading us into more community-focused and family welcoming events. When not leading the club or running the trails of Marin Headlands and Mt. Tam, Carolyn can be found at Arch Rival Athletic Store in Corte Madera or managing the books at Safeway Market.
