2019 UC Santa Cruz XC Challenge on 8/17/19

Tamalpa sent 3 women and 12 men to the 2019 UC Santa Cruz XC Challenge on 8/17/19 to compete in their 4 Mile Cross Country Race.  Mary Vidovich was our first Female finisher in 33:54 and led a scoring F(50-59) team with Sue Kreusch and Bridie Dillon.   The first Male finisher was Sergio Higareda who took 10^th place in the Men’s Masters Race with a time of 25:30.  Don Porteous was the first M(70-79) finisher in 31:19 and Elmo Shropshire was the first M(80-89) finisher in 45:12.  We were able to score a winning M(70-79) team using Jim Myers, Jim Flanigan and Hans Schmid.  We dropped down Don Porteous, Len Goldman and Reese Laughlin to join Sergio and Pedro Cifuentes on a scoring M(40-49) Team and also scored a M(60-69) team with John Hirschberger and dropping down David McCormack, Elmo Shropshire and Don Hillebrant.  Next Saturday, 8/24/19 we will be competing at the 27th Annual Phil Widener Empire Open in Santa Rosa.  Hopefully we will have a large group of Tamalpa Runners and can field several Tamalpa Teams. Make sure to have your 2019 USATF Card prior to running the Race so that you can score for Tamalpa.
