Course: Out and back hilly course starting at Tennessee Valley horse stables. Heads
west on a downhill grade toward Tennessee Cove at the beach. First and last 3/4
mile is paved and the remainder is dirt fire road. If rainy, mud adds new dimension
to race. Usually has large turnout with as many as 190 runners competing in the
kickoff race of the year.
Directions - From Highway 101 near Mill Valley take Hwy. 1/Shoreline offramp
toward Mill Valley and Stinson Beach. Approximately 1/3 mile from
freeway, turn west on Tennessee Valley Road. Follow about 2 miles
to end and park.
**Note for 2005 race! - We are urging
ALL Tamalpans to carpool to the race, as the Park service is considering
revoking our race permit, due to overcrowded parking conditions
on race day. Please carpool from the Manzanita Commuter parking
lot. Thanks for your cooperation!

Course: Out and back, flat course with loop in the middle. Starts in parking area just east of freeway on paved road for first and last 3/4 mile. Remainder of course is on dirt road levies next to the bay and ponds.
Directions: From Highway 101 north of San Rafael in Marinwood, take St. Vincents Drive offramp. Go east 1/4 mile to parking area.

Course: Same course as last year. Out and back along Terra Linda
Ridge Fire Road with a detour on the way back up the Luiz Ranch
Fire Road to the gate. First mile gradual up hill. Second mile slightly
to steeply down hill. Miles 3 & 4 are up, up and up. Last miles
to finish are down. Area

Directions: There are two ways to get to the start of the race.
If you are planning on attending the Tamalpa Runner awards breakfast
following the race, take Sir Francis Drake to Butterfield (in San
Anselmo) to Fawn Court, right, up to Mission Pass trail head. Take
the trail up to the start. There is limited parking on Fawn, you
may have to park on Butterfield. If you are NOT attending the breakfast,
we ask that you get to the race start by taking the Freitas Parkway
exit off the 101 in Terra Linda, traveling west to the end of the
parkway. Park at the trailhead, the race starts a 1/4 mile up the
paved bike path. The awards breakfast is at the Sleepy Hollow Community
Center on Butterfield in San Anselmo. (About 1.5 mi. from start
of race)

Course and Driving Details
Course: 3 miles up to top of Mt. Burdell, and 3 miles back down,
on the way down there is a slight change of course that adds a bit
to get us closer to a 10K. Add approximately 10 minutes to your
road 10K times to approximate your race time.
Directions: Hwy 101 to San Marin Drive exit, west about 2 miles
to San Andreas Drive, right up the hill about 1/2 mile, park near
the trail head. Map here.
**Note for 2005 race - There will
once again be a potluck brunch at Bernie and Edda's home following
the race. They live just down the hill from the race site, the address
is: 76 San Domingo Way. Please bring some sort of breakfast or lunch-type
food, not just a dessert. (We had too many desserts last year!)

Course and Driving Details
Course: Start on Escalon Fire Road, left onto Middle Summit Rd.,
Middle Summit Rd to Corte Madera Ridge Fire Rd., right onto Blithedale
Ridge Fire Rd, left down on H Line Fire Rd, right onto Railroad
Grade, right up Horsehoe Fire Rd, and then another right back onto
Blithedale Ridge Fire Rd., back to the start. Very, very hilly!
There may be a water station at some point during the race, but
you might want to bring your own H2O bottle just in case. Area map

Directions: Directions from 101: Take East Blithedale Exit and
head west towards Mill Valley approx. 3/4 mile. Turn Right on Camino
Alto. Head up the hill and make a left on Overhill Rd. Follow Overhill
up and around until it meets Escalon Dr. Park at the trail head.
Directions from Larkspur/Corte Madera: Take Camino Alto up and
over the hill towards Mill Valley. Make a right onto Overhill Rd.
Follow Overhill Rd. up and around until it meets Escalon Dr. Park
at the trail head.

Course and Driving Details
Course: Up Miwok, skirt the microwave tower to the south, and down
Bobcat back to the start. The mileage is approx. 5.5, but runs like
6 to 6.5. The first 2.5 to 3 miles are up and some of it is pretty
steep.
Directions: Either take the tunnel off of Alexander Rd. or McCullough
Road over the headlands down to Bunker road all the way down to
the Rodeo Lagoon. Park at Building 1111, which is at the trailhead
for Miwok trail. For map of area, go here.
**Note for 2005 race: There will be an informal
picnic following the race. Bring your own food and drinks, if desired.

Course: Out and back, mostly flat paved course, primarily on bike
path paralleling Novato Blvd.
Directions: 101 to San Marin Blvd. Exit west onto San Marin Blvd.,
proceed approx. 2 miles until San Marin Blvd. intersects with Novato
Blvd. The race starts near this intersection, across the street
from San Marin High School.

Course and Driving Details
Course: Start from The Village's gravel overflow parking lot across
from Nordstrom's. Run northeast along the bike/walking path for
about 1/4 mile. Veer towards the right and run along the foot path
that leads to the levees. Run 1 to 1.5 miles along the levees before
turning back and heading to the start/finish area.
Directions:From Highway 101 North: Exit Paradise Drive. Turn right
at light onto Redwood Highway. Follow the road ~600 yards until
you see the gravel parking lot. (Across the street from Nordstroms)
Turn right into the lot.
From Highway 101 South: Exit Paradise Drive. Turn left at light
onto overpass. Follow Redwood Highway until you see the gravel parking
lot. Turn right into lot.

Course: This is a flat, fast, paved course that runs on a walking/bike path in Samuel P. Taylor State Park off Sir Francis Drake not far past the town of Lagunitas.
Directions: Take Sir Francis Drake Blvd off Highway 101 near Greenbrae/Larkspur
and head west. Continue through San Anselmo and Fairfax approximately
12-15 miles to the entrance to the park on the left. Follow road
through park and across Lagunitas Creek to back side of park area.
Allow 35-40 minutes to get there from central Marin.
**Cars entering the park race morning containing
4 or more persons will be admitted for free. Otherwise, you will
have to pay for parking.

Course: Starts and finishes in front of the gymnasium. The actual route is a mystery so it will be a suprise to all who don't join the practice run a week before. BUT... it is fast and flat, good news for those who feel like they've already gotten in their "hill quota" for the year.
Directions: Off Highway 101 south, take the Lucky Drive exit in Larkspur/Greenbrae and go west to Doherty Dr. Turn right on Doherty and follow curve around school, turning into front parking lot by the gym.
Heading north on 101, take the Lucky exit, right on Redwood Highway, right on Wornum, right on Tamal Vista, left on Lucky Drive. Follow to Doherty and continue as above. The address is 395 Doherty Dr.
If you're coming from Magnolia Street in Larkspur, turn onto Doherty Dr at the stop light and follow about a half-mile to the school
