2008 TCRS #6 Results

San Geronimo Golf Course, Distance 4.6 miles
July 18th, 2008
92 Finishers: 64 men, 28 women

Whatever the commonalities that the sports of golf and running arguably share, TCRS benefited from their abilities to co-exist somewhat peacefully yet one more time. For the third consecutive July, Brad O'Brien coordinated a Friday afternoon of golf with an evening of running, followed by a most enjoyable meal and social gathering at the San Geronimo Golf Club. A generous breeze kept the running conditions quite tolerable, and a significant influx of high school runners and recent graduates infused the results with another refreshing sprinkling of low numbers, both times and ages. Mark McManus offered a dominating performance up front, besting Redwood High star Peter Kissin by almost two minutes over the two-loop course. Courtenay Brown prevailed by a slim margin over Laura Schmitt in an exciting women's race, and Tim McCarthy was the event's Golden Shoe winner for the best combined performance in both the run and the golf. The opportunity to quietly and gently cool down over the soft fairways after the run summed up a most enjoyable TCRS. - Jim Myers
