Our annual remembrance of Tamalpa legend Steve Lyons will be held September 15 at the San Rafael High School track. The schedule of events begins promptly at 6:30 pm with the Steve Lyons mile, open to runners 45 and older. The open mile will follow at 6:45. The remainder of the scheduled events will include a 4 x 400 relay (with each team encouraged to have at least one runner over 60, one runner under 12, and at least one female runner), the open 800, and the Billie Mile (a run, jog, walk event for everyone in attendance. We are also likely to hold a kids' 100 and 400, as well as an open 400. Winners will receive delicious homemade cookies baked by the Lyons clan. The Steve Lyons meet will be a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in support of Tamalpan Carey Ritola, who is currently receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Participants will be asked for a voluntary contribution of $5 or more. All contributions are tax-deductible. For further information, call George Frazier at 924-7740.
